Team
News & Injuries / Absences
Here are what we know about injured
or unavailable players, and any tactical or squad updates for each side.
Real
Madrid
Unavailable / Doubtful Players:
- Antonio Rüdiger
is out with a thigh injury; medical reports suggest he’ll be unavailable
for about three months.
- Ferland Mendy
is injured (muscle/hamstring issues).
- Endrick
is also sidelined.
- Jude Bellingham
had been recovering from a shoulder injury but is now included in the
squad.
- Eduardo Camavinga
is doubtful due to a shin injury.
Other Notes:
- Xabi Alonso has begun implementing his style:
possession, pressing, fluid attack. The start of the La Liga season has
been strong. Real Madrid have won their opening matches in domestic league
play.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold may see rotation, possibly being
preferred over Dani Carvajal at right back.
Marseille
Unavailable / Doubtful Players:
- Ruben Blanco
(goalkeeper) is not included in the Champions League squad.
- Pol Lirola
also excluded from the squad.
- Amine Gouiri
is a doubt after suffering a head injury in the Lorient match.
Other Notes:
- Marseille have made defensive reinforcements: Benjamin
Pavard and Nayef Aguerd are expected to feature in central defence.
- CJ Egan-Riley returns from suspension.
- The team under Roberto De Zerbi has shown attacking
promise in Ligue 1, especially at home, but their away form has been
patchy.
